Guillermo del Toro directs this Spanish-language gothic horror set in 1939 during the final year of the Spanish Civil War. When Carlos (Fernando Tielve) arrives at an orphanage run by Casares (Federico Luppi) and Carmen (Maris Paredes), he forms a friendship with fellow orphan Jaime (Iñigo Garcés). However, the orphanage is far from safe and Carlos soon discovers that it is haunted by the ghost of a young boy named Santi (Junio Valverde).

When Carlos discovers the truth about what happened to Santi, he strives to help Santi exact his revenge. The cast also includes Eduardo Noriega and Irene Visedo.
