Miracle Mile (1988)
A chance encounter sparks an instant romance between jazz musician Harry (Anthony Edwards, Top Gun) and waitress Julie (Mare Winningham, St. Elmo’s Fire). After a memorable first date at the La Brea Tar Pits, the pair arrange to meet again later that evening. However, when Harry oversleeps and misses their date, he rushes to the all-night diner on Los Angeles’s Miracle Mile, hoping to reconnect with Julie.
Everything changes when Harry answers a ringing payphone and accidentally receives a terrifying message intended for someone else. Suddenly, what began as a romantic evening becomes a desperate race against time as chaos spreads throughout Los Angeles. Harry must navigate an increasingly dangerous city to find Julie before an unimaginable catastrophe strikes.
First released in 1988, Miracle Mile is a gripping cult classic that seamlessly combines romance, dark humour, suspense, and Cold War paranoia. Written and directed by Steve De Jarnatt, the film features striking nighttime cinematography by Theo van Sande, compelling performances from Anthony Edwards and Mare Winningham, and an atmospheric electronic score by Tangerine Dream.
Making its worldwide 4K UHD debut with a stunning new restoration, Miracle Mile delivers an unforgettable cinematic experience, building toward one of the most haunting and emotionally powerful endings of the 1980s.
